Because we don’t have a car, scooter or bicycle yet, we’ve just been able to explore Discovery Square (where the restaurants, post office and Housing Department are) and the buildings nearby. There are free shuttles that run around campus but we have yet to get on one.
Jose’s NTU classmate, Kang Chen Fang, took us to Building 3, where the Nanoenergy Lab is located. This is Jose’s new workspace.
The building was very nice. It reminded me of Google or Yahoo or one of those Silicon Valley companies where everything is shiny, modern and impressive.
So he’s getting a 15-inch MacBook. an Apple desk monitor, his own phone and whatever he needs to help him do his job well. I wish I could show you a picture of his lab/office at NTU to compare and contrast. All the desks crammed together with weeks-old garbage on other people’s desks. Jose is actually pretty tidy so I can imagine how stressful it was for him to work amidst a garbage dump. Well, all that has changed!
