When we went fishing in the Red Sea two weeks ago I got so horribly seasick that I popped a blood vessel in my eye. I won’t post pics of that here but you can Google “subconjunctival hemorrhage” if you want to know what it looks like. I looked like I could be in a horror movie.
But anyway, besides being able to catch a tiny fish the size of my bait, the highlight of the trip was discovering one of the best brownies EVER. I asked the captain where they got the brownies and he said the the Al Marsa Yacht Club makes them for the boat trips and that they sell them daily.

After many days of dreaming about all the chocolate-y goodness I finally called Al Marsa. They told me that no, they don’t sell the brownies but they do sell croissants. Huh? I don’t even remember those damn croissants! How could they not sell the best thing that’s ever come out of their kitchen (I’ve eaten there several times, I know)?!
I was so disappointed that I started searching for brownie recipes online. Here’s the one that looked the most promising:

I followed the recipe to a T and ended up with REALLY GOOD moist fudgy brownies. They don’t look too pretty because I started slicing them when they were still warm. But I swear they are to die for!
Jose was worried that I would eat the whole batch by myself so he said he’d take some to the lab to share with his labmates. Fine by me, good brownies are meant to be shared!
The description on the website says, “If you’re looking for a healthy chocolate brownie recipe, look elsewhere because my homemade brownies are an indulgent dream come true.” This is absolutely true as I’d probably go into sugar shock if I had more than one slice a day.

Hmm, I’m salivating

I’ll make them for you when we go back to Taiwan 😀 It really helps to have a proper oven though!
