I got my first bike in Saudi Arabia from SACO World, this huge warehouse store in the city. I knew it was crap quality but it was cheap so I figured it was all right. I put it in the luggage compartment of the bus and headed back to KAUST happily.
After a few days of seeing me struggling with it, Jose insisted that we return it immediately. The wheels were misaligned, the gears wouldn’t shift properly, etc. So we returned it and I was bikeless once again.
We went to Banaweer, a bicycle store in KAUST, to check out some brand new and second-hand bikes for sale but we weren’t very satisfied with the selection. There were some good ones but the ones I liked cost almost $800 and that’s just too expensive.
Finally I came up with a brilliant idea! Thankfully Jose’s labmate Tim was going to Taiwan so after I perused the Taiwanese websites and selected a beautiful and more affordable bike, I asked him to help me buy it and arrange for shipping. I chose this bike because Giant makes quality bikes that will last a long time. Also, I’m all about supporting Taiwanese companies!
THANK YOU, TIM! I just love the Taiwan Post Office. I got my package in about 5 days.
We had to assemble it ourselves of course but it just took one morning. THANK YOU, JOSE!
This model is called the iNeed Latte (hence the coffee cup holder) and is in all shades of brown! How CUTE is that?! The handles are even (faux) brown leather! It comes with a brown basket but Tim said it wouldn’t fit in the box so he will just bring it here when he comes back next month.
So happy with my new bike 😀
