We’re going to spend the holidays in Spain and while I’m looking forward to eating jamon, shopping during sales and meeting friends and family, I’m not very excited about the cold. It’s going to be freezing and I keep worrying that Jasmine will get sick or something. I’ve already bought a bunch of winter clothes for her but I don’t know how prepared we really are.
January will be an exciting month for us. It will be mark our 1 year of living in KAUST, my birthday, and the month that I’m going back to the work force after a 15-month hiatus. KAUST has lots of opportunities for spouses and there’s even a website you can check for vacancies but I think it’s only accessible if you’re here. It’s mostly administrative jobs but there are other positions for people who are more qualified.
I thought about being a stay-at-home mom for longer but when you’re watching 5 episodes in a row of The Walking Dead every day maybe that’s a sign you have too much time on your hands. I feel a little sorry that I’ll have to put Jasmine in daycare while she’s still small but then I think of the millions of women who only have a couple months maternity leave and need to put their babies in daycare at two months old. Jasmine will be seven months and she’s so active and curious now that it might be good for her to see more things and meet more people.
I guess we’ll just have to see how it goes. I’m excited to work again, actually.
